Workshop

The “Central Workshop” in Khalsa College of Engg & Technology is typically a key facility where students gain practical, hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, tools, and machines. It serves as a practical lab for first-year students across branches, introducing them to basic engineering practices. Also this is the common facility for all the branches and having most sophisticated machine tools & equipments. Besides important training work, central workshop extends services in the form of repair work to institute & hostels. Facility of making project work and working model is there for B.Tech and Diploma students.

Common Sections in Workshop

  1. Fitting Shop
    • Hands-on with files, hacksaws, bench vices
    • Practicing marking, cutting, and assembling
  2. Welding Shop
    • Arc welding, gas welding
    • Learning to join metal pieces using various welding techniques
  3. Carpentry Shop
    • Wood cutting, joining, and shaping
    • Use of saws, chisels, hammers
  4. Machine Shop
    • Lathe, milling, drilling machines
    • Basic machining operations
  5. Foundry Shop
    • Sand casting, mold preparation
    • Melting and pouring metal into molds
  6. Smithy Shop
    • Forging techniques, heating and shaping metals
    • Use of hammer, anvil, and furnace
  7. Sheet Metal Shop
    • Cutting, bending, and joining metal sheets
    • Use of shears, bending machines
  8.  Electrical Shop
    • Soldering irons, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and various components like resistors, capacitors, and diodes.
