Department of Allied and Healthcare

About

Staff dealing with Allied and Healthcare has been in growing demand since after COVID-19. Known as life saviors, paramedical staff assist doctors in all the major fields be it set up, preparation and handling of equipments in Operation Theatres, medical imaging techniques such as X-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Students pursuing paramedical sciences are also equipped with the knowledge of taking care of patients with cardiopulmonary diseases with the help of treatment and pre/post-surgery care as well criminal investigations, eye care detection and diagnosis of disease in eye.

The Department of Allied and Healthcare was established in 2021. The Department offers 3PG Programs Namely: M.Sc. (Radiology & Imaging Technology, Medical Technology, Medical Microbiology). And 6 UG Programs namely: B.Sc. (Radiology & Imaging Technology, Medical Technology, Medical Lab Science, Forensic Science & Optometry). The department of Allied and Healthcare is putting in great efforts to produce professionals who are not only just academically brilliant but also those who have high moral values to deal with society. The department has signed MoUs with various hospitals for the practical exposure to the students.

The Department of Allied and Healthcare Sciences was established in 2021 with a vision to develop highly skilled, ethically grounded, and clinically competent healthcare professionals capable of contributing effectively to the evolving healthcare ecosystem. The department currently offers the following programmes:

  Designed in alignment with contemporary healthcare standards and industry requirements, the curriculum integrates strong theoretical foundations with extensive practical training. Emphasis is placed on developing technical proficiency, analytical competence, patient-centered care, and professional ethics. The department maintains well-equipped laboratories and modern diagnostic infrastructure to ensure hands-on training aligned with real-world clinical environments. To strengthen experiential learning, the department has established Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with reputed hospitals and diagnostic centers, enabling structured clinical postings, internships, and skill-based training. Beyond academics, the department promotes research orientation, interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and continuous professional development. The focus remains on nurturing healthcare professionals who combine scientific excellence with compassion, integrity, and social responsibility.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
PEO1: Ability to analyze, Monitor & give care to a Surgical/ Anesthetized patient.
PEO2: Understand the fundamentals and applications of Anesthesia, Surgical & Critical Care Equipment.
PEO3: Ability to assist an Anesthesiologist through General or Regional Anesthesia.
PEO4: Learn and Understand different Anesthetic & Surgical Procedures & their benefits as well as complications.
PEO5: Ability to Assist the Surgeon throughout Surgery & other important procedures.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):
PSO1 : Students will be competent to work in Hospital Operation Theatres, Critical Care Units and Emergency sections.
PSO2: Students will be skilled in problem solving, critical thinking and will be able to assist the Surgeon or Anesthetist.
PSO3: The students will acquire in-depth knowledge of Anesthesia, Surgery, Critical care and pain Management.
PSO4: Students will be able to have all the relevant knowledge of Anesthesia & Surgery and will be able to do various procedures required.
PSO5: This Program will create a great source of manpower that can aid in our health sector, especially in Trauma, Emergency, ICU & Operation Theatres.

Program Outcomes (POs):
PO1: Have a lifelong knowledge of Anesthesia, Surgery & all the equipment used in it along with basic knowledge of applied science.
PO2: Anesthesia & Surgical Technicians/Assistants will work in Operation Theatres, ICUs etc. along with Anesthetists and Surgeons &a thus will be having a great & Important role in Healthcare.
PO3: After completion students can go for higher studies such as Masters in same stream or any other relevant streams as well.
PO4: This Program will build technical knowledge in the student so that he/she will be able to assist an Anesthetist/Surgeon in every aspect of Anesthesia, Surgery & other related fields.
PO5: Engage in lifelong learning and adapt to changing professional and societal needs.
PO6: This Program can do an overall development of the student to be able to have all the technical aspects about Anesthesia, Surgery along with their advanced knowledge.

PEO1: Understand the fundamentals and applications of Radiological Equipments such as MRI Machine, CT Scan Machine, X-ray Machine etc.
PEO2: Perform various Radiological procedures which are necessary for diagnostic purposes.
PEO3: Develop technical knowledge of Radiology so that he/she will be able to assist a Radiologist in every aspect of Radiological Imaging.
PEO4: Pursue a career in Hospital as well as go for further education & research in Radiology & Imaging.

Program Specific Outcomes:-
PSO1: Competent to work in Hospital Radiology Suites, MRI Units and other related sections.
PSO2: Develop an understanding of the physical principles as well as theories involved in diagnostic imaging modalities.
