The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) program was launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically promote the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in educational institutions. For the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in HEIs to be established and stabilized, it is primarily the role of IICs to engage numerous faculty, students, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities. These activities include ideation, problem-solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling and management at the Pre-incubation/Incubation stage, etc. The IIC model is designed to address the existing challenges/issues in HEIs such as fewer numbers, occasional and unplanned Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) activities organized in HEIs with low involvement of top leadership, lack of coherence and absence of synergy in resource mobilization, deployment and underutilization of creative potential of youths as the major barrier for vibrant I&E ecosystem to emerge from HEIs. Keeping the above motive as a base Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology, Amritsar has established an Institute Innovation Cell (IIC). We provide our students and faculty ample opportunities to connect & participate in various Innovation initiatives to inculcate entrepreneurial capabilities among them. This has created a vibrant innovative environment in the Institute. Dr. Manju Bala, Director - Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology, Amritsar, committed to maintaining an academically rich and professionally competent environment on the campus, aims to establish a platform to develop cognitive abilities among the students and create a vibrant innovative environment in the Institute. Dr. Atul Agnihotri, Dean (Research & Consultancy), IIC President - Khalsa College of Engineering & Technology, Amritsar, envisioned stimulating innovation through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation-boosted eco-system in the institution, providing real-time exposure to the students and providing them a platform to showcase and implement their practical learning.
